Late Onset Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder Misdiagnosed as an Acute Stroke

Late-onset Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder is not common but, has been reported to have insidious
onset and aggressive disease course. Acute presentation of neurologic symptoms in elderly
patients can be misdiagnosed as acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Herein, we report a patient
with late-onset neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder who presented with acute brainstem
syndrome.
