Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease (NMOSD) is an idiopathic inflammatory disorder of the central
nervous system characterized by extensive longitudinal and transverse myelitis. Although the
pathogenesis of NMOSD needs to be elucidated, a reported related antigen is aquaporin 4 (AQP4).
Moreover, an AQP-4 Ab seropositive tendency among patients with NMOSD supports the validity of
high coexistence of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and Sj?gren
syndrome.
